Demucking services for ship tankers are a critical process that ensures that the residues, sediments and other contaminants that accumulate on the interior surfaces of tankers over time are effectively cleaned. This service is customized depending on the type of materials carried by the tankers, the degree of contamination and the requirements of the ship’s operations. Here is a more detailed explanation of demucking services:

1. Preliminary Preparation and Planning
Demucking requires a comprehensive preliminary preparation and planning process. In this stage:

Tanker Analysis: The size, internal structure and materials carried in the past of the tanker are evaluated. Especially for chemical tankers, the type of cargo carried is of great importance.
Risk Assessment: The hazards that may be encountered during the operation are determined and the necessary safety measures are planned.
Equipment Selection: Appropriate equipment is determined for the cleaning process. High-pressure water sprayers, vacuum pumps, chemical sprayers and special mechanical cleaning equipment are selected.
2. Rough Cleaning
The first stage aims to remove large residues and sediments accumulated inside the tankers. In this step:

Mechanical Cleaning: Large mass residues are cleaned manually or mechanically using shovels, scrapers and vacuum pumps.

Collection of Solid Waste: Waste removed during rough cleaning is collected in appropriate containers and disposed of in accordance with waste management protocols.

3. Chemical Cleaning
After rough cleaning, chemical cleaning is performed to dissolve stubborn dirt and sediments remaining on the surface:

Chemical Application: Suitable chemicals are sprayed onto the inner surface of the tanker to dissolve the residues. The chemicals used are specially selected according to the type of residue and this process is carried out in a way that ensures the safe use of chemicals.
Rinsing: After chemical cleaning, the tankers are rinsed with high-pressure water to completely clean the chemicals and dissolved residues.
4. High-Pressure Water Spraying
After chemical cleaning, the remaining dirt and chemical residues are cleaned by spraying with high-pressure water. In this step:

Pressure Water Spraying: High-pressure water is sprayed onto the tanker surface to clean all remaining dirt and sediments. This method ensures that the inner surfaces of the tanker are smooth and completely clean.
Water and Waste Management: The water used is treated in accordance with local environmental regulations and disposed of according to wastewater management protocols.

5. Inspection and Control
After the cleaning process is completed, the tankers are inspected for compliance:

Visual Inspection: Expert teams visually inspect the inner surfaces of the tankers to evaluate the effectiveness of the cleaning process.
Sampling and Testing: When deemed necessary, samples are taken from the inner surfaces of the tanker and laboratory tests are performed. These tests are used to verify whether the tanker is completely clean.
Reporting: A detailed report is prepared about the cleaning process, materials used, waste removed and the latest status. This report is used as a reference for ship owners or managers.
6. Safety and Environmental Compliance
The highest level of safety and environmental compliance is ensured during demucking services:

Safety Measures: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is used to ensure the safety of personnel throughout the operation and emergency plans are kept ready.
Environmental Protection: Full compliance with local and international environmental regulations is ensured in waste management, chemical use and water treatment processes.

7. Periodic Maintenance and Monitoring
Demucking process is repeated periodically to ensure that tankers remain regularly clean and safe. This extends the operational life of the ship and increases its performance. In addition, regular cleaning operations allow for early detection of potential problems and preventive maintenance.
